The hostel is situated on approx 1.5 hectares that was once the site of the North Shields Primary School. The site was first established as a Youth Hostel in 1973. Since then it has undergone major upgrades, rebuilding and refurbishment so that it is now a modern and comfortable, well equipped facility for group or individual stays (only when we have no groups in resident), functions, conferences and un-powered camping. It is open all year round. The Hostel has recently been rebuilt by the Lions club of Port Lincoln after the 2005 Bushfires. The Lions Club was recognized in the Australia Day Awards receiving the honor of COMMUNITY ORGANISATION OF THE YEAR 2007 for this project. The hostel is the perfect GET AWAY location in a quiet farming area, with camping, fishing, boating, a boat ramp, roadhouse and hotel all at North Shields.
